A shikara is a wooden boat made from Deodar wood. These shikara boats are among the key tourist attractions in Kashmir, particularly on Dal Lake. They come in various types; some are used for personal transportation by local Kashmiris living in the interiors of Dal Lake, while others are exclusively for tourism and leisure purposes.
The pricing is fixed at ₹770 for the first hour. If you wish to extend your ride beyond one hour, an additional charge of ₹500 will apply for each subsequent hour. This means that after the initial hour at ₹770, each additional hour will cost ₹500 more.
As mentioned earlier, the cost of a shikara ride on Dal Lake starts at ₹770 for the first hour. The shikara owner will pick you up from the ghat (the pickup point will be confirmed by our team in advance), and after a serene hour-long trip, you will return to the original point.
The standard timings of a Shikara ride over Dal Lake are from morning 07:00 to evening 09:00 ( during summer times ), and during winter times, when the whole Dal Lake freezes up, the timings would be morning 09:00 to evening 05:00, because after that, the whole Dal Lake freezes up.
